Art, for me, is an ongoing process of responding. I am responding to my inner world and the world around me. One brush stroke of magenta leads to the next brush stroke of yellow  and dash of charcoal; each brushstroke and line responding to the next with colour and movement. I do not plan my work so much as I allow it to unfold.

The childlike wonder of creation keeps me experimenting with new ways of expressing myself. I love paint because I can immediately get a rush of colour. But, I also love drawing...the drawing out, the searching line...

I am inspired and moved by Giacometti, Betty Goodwin, Alice Neel, Lucian Freud and Frank Auerbach, Magdalena Abakanowicz, as well as the many people I have been blessed enough to teach over the years.

Art will remain the most astonishing activity
of mankind
born out of struggle
between wisdom and madness,

between dream and reality in our mind.
